| More than 11 million urban residents are expected to become employed this year, almost the same level of last year, a government think tank forecast Monday. The country's massive economic stimulus package of 4 trillion yuan ($586 billion), and a series of proactive employment policies and measures including special training for the unemployed have made China's job market better than expected, it said. More subsidies offered to enterprises and stronger emphasis on the employment of college graduates and migrant workers, among other means, were conducive to easing pressure on the job market, it added. In the first three quarters, 8.51 million urban people became employed. By the end of the third quarter, the urban registered unemployment population was 9.15 million and urban registered unemployment rate was 4.3 percent, it said. About 4.02 million laid-off workers found new jobs in the first three quarters this year and 74 percent of college graduates had found jobs by the end of August, it said. (Editor's admin) |
